Ako’y Isang Makata (I am a Poet)

Film synopsis: Abby, a teenage Filipino immigrant living in a post- Soviet country, attempts to rediscover her culture and forgotten language by reading “Florante at Laura,” a Filipino epic poem, but struggles to understand her own tongue, all while battling with her homesickness.

A 15-minute short film shot on video camera and iPhone completely inside my apartment during the COVID-19 pandemic. I did this as an individual assignment for Intro to Filmmaking class in the Fall 2021 semester at the American University of Armenia.

Bente Uno (Twenty-One)

A 5-minute portrait film made of montages of my creative life and about going through a life changed by COVID-19 and turning twenty-one (bente-uno). I was influenced by my penchant for making collages, and considered this work as another collage – but in film. Submitted as an individual assignment for Intro to Filmmaking class in the Fall 2021 semester at the American University of Armenia.
